What is Accra Pictures by Day and Night?

Accra is the capital of the small, West African country of Ghana, which achieved its independence in 1957 from its colonial master, the United Kingdom. It celebrated 50 years in 2007, and is projecting itself fast and furiously as "gateway to West Africa".

It's an exciting city, with its unique problems, but with it close to the Atlantic ocean, and many beaches, who can resist coming here?

It's Oh-So-Hot in Accra...Sometimes!

Yeah. It can be hot. And sometimes, too, it can rain like cats and dogs!

If you're coming to Accra in May or June these days, prepare to come with your trusted umbrella!

Enjoy the weekend!

I just came across your blog while doing some research. I just returned from a two week trip to Accra. I'm finishing my graduate thesis in architecture in Los Angeles, CA and have selected Accra as the site for my project.

I had concerns about coming during the rainy season but the weather seemed to cooperate while I was there. It was quite humid compared to what I'm used to but the rain was typically just short downpours.

I look forward to keeping up with your blog.

Best,
Kris

it is not as bad as summer weather in NYC. Hot, humid, uncomfortable. Ugh! I like that purple umbrella.

It is pretty hot around here right now too. Although we have had rain lately we also had a multi-year drought that just ended so be happy for the rain!
