Accra is the capital of the small, West African country of Ghana, which achieved its independence in 1957 from its colonial master, the United Kingdom. It celebrated 50 years in 2007, and is projecting itself fast and furiously as "gateway to West Africa".
It's an exciting city, with its unique problems, but with it close to the Atlantic ocean, and many beaches, who can resist coming here?
April 2006-April 2011:
5 years of bringing readers insights into life in Ghana! Thank you!
Lets hope so. I wonder if the average American realises how important this election is to the rest of the world. I heard it referred to on the radio this morning as "the world's election". I've never seen as much coverage as we're getting this time in Australia.
Hi Emmanuel, this is a first time for me in your blog. I see many fotos of Accra and I would like to have some these. I live in Brazil. Do you know Brazil? Here the people think that the africans, our brothers, live very bad like us. I with my husband have a idiom group. (i´m so sorry, i don´t speak English very well, but German yes I speak. I began a blog, it call "cara irmâ" (dear sister), but i didn´t write there. I need fotos of Accra in 2008.
Aline--I have quite a number of pictures on this blog, which you can use. DO please acknowledge where you got the pictures from; that will help encourage me to post more!
